How to Update vehicle and powered asset information
The SpeedGauge Safety Center (SGSC) receives data directly from your Verizon Reveal account through an integration method called a fetch API (Application Program Interface). To activate data flow to SpeedGauge (SG), for our analytics to function, the fleet customer completes this procedure that results in SG receiving credentials from Verizon that allows the creation of your SGSC account. SG then ‘fetches’ data from the Reveal account. SG only needs certain information that is entered by the fleet into their Reveal account.
Two pieces of information we need for our analytics are the ‘Vehicle Name’ and the ‘Vehicle Number’. The ‘Vehicle Number’ may be a value that is internal – like ‘256987’. The ‘Vehicle Name’ is a value that is more familiar to your fleet – like ‘Joe’s Peterbilt’.
Please Note:
- The Vehicle Number field in your Verizon Reveal account needs a value in it for SpeedGauge to receive data. It cannot be empty.
- Vehicle Number can't have any special characters. For example: In 542#698-2 - the '#' is a special character and not allowed. The dash '-' in the sample above is OK.
- Vehicle Number Length - there is a limit in the length of the vehicle number. For example: Using a VIN number like 4Y1SL65848Z411439 is not allowed.
If any of the above limitations are not corrected, the connection between your Reveal account and SpeedGauge will not happen. Therefore, SpeedGauge's analytics will not function.
Therefore, these values must be entered into your Reveal account. See below:
- Go to 'Admin'
- Go to 'Vehicle List'
- Select 'Vehicle'
- Select 'Details' - Be sure that both ‘Vehicle Name’ and the ‘Vehicle Number’ have values.
Acceptable and Not Acceptable 'Vehicle #'
More information about this subject can be found in the Reveal Help Center.
