How accurate is our data?

With SpeedGauge, you can be confident that you have the most accurate Post Speed Limit (PSL) and Mapping Data in the Industry, and here's why:

1. As with most companies that use maps with their solutions, SpeedGauge subscribes to a
vendor that supplies us with the highest quality map information available including posted
speed limits – our base layer or underlying data. Where they stop is where we get started.

2. SpeedGauge builds upon this base layer updating road segments and the posted speed limits
daily – actually within hours. How often are other map vendors updating their maps? Weekly?
Monthly? Quarterly? In the transportation industry accuracy is paramount. Wrong PSLs and
possible violations resulting in this error can cause great financial difficulties for fleet owners in
terms of fines, higher CSA scores, and insurance premiums. Not to mention a fleet’s financial
ability to operate when all of these are combined.

3. SpeedGauge makes proactive corrections to our maps and PSLs which limits the amount of
corrections our customers submit (i.e. long-term construction projects or new road building).
Between 2018 and 2019 our map team made changes to approximately 200,000 road
segments. This does not include change requests from our customers.

4. We provide more mapping and PSL data than other mapping vendors (i.e. oil
fields and rural roads).

5. Our maps are geared specifically for the transportation industry.

6. Our Trend and Incident reports show PSLs on city and rural road segments – not just on
highways and Interstate.
