How to Add/Update VIN number/Reported Driver ID

PROCEDURE

  1. Navigate to Vehicles and Assets
  2. Select a desire vehicle to modify
  3. Make necessary changes as needed.
  4. Click Save

ADDITIONAL NOTES

In order to make changes in the vehicle edit page, the User must have adequate Security clearance and Data Access level. This is generally Administrator unless they have a custom clearance with Administer devices checked.

Any manually entered VIN or changes made to the VIN from a vehicle's edit page will take priority over what is retrieved from the engine. The system enables users to edit the VIN, and honors what they choose. The reason for this is to allow users the capability to correct invalid VINs, without the system changing it back automatically to what it is retrieving from the engine.

Geotab Reported DriverID

How to show your REAL Reported Driver ID instead of the auto-generated Geotab ID

Currently with Geotab, the Reported Driver ID is an auto generated alphanumeric value that means nothing to a fleet (see below).

To change the Reported Driver ID from the auto generated alphanumeric value (above) to your own Reported Driver ID value:

Log into your MyGeotab account (sample below):

  • From the navigation bar, click on Administration Users
  • Select Driver

  • Enter Driver Email Address in ‘User Email’ field (needed for future capabilities)
  • Enter Driver Cell Phone Number (needed for future capabilities)
  • Enter your real Driver ID in the ‘Employee Number’ field

The value entered in ‘Employee number’ will now appear as the Reported Drive ID in SpeedGauge and its reports.
